Job Description |
|
|
- Organizing and maintaining comprehensive legal files and setting up a digital filing system.
- Implementing and maintaining a “tickler” system for various deadlines.
- Handling routine legal matters at the direction of the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel.
- Document control for complex transactions.
- Gathering documents and information from sources within the organization.
- Managing the Legal Department’s presence on the Digital Library and the HUB.
- Managing the Legal Department templates and working with pro bono counsel to review and draft new templates when necessary.
- Coordinating with pro bono counsel and internal clients.
- Providing guidance on filing and document control to other departments.
- Assisting with Corporate Secretary duties for the various Mercy Corps entities.
- General secretarial and administrative tasks, and Other tasks as necessary to accomplish Mercy Corps’ and the Legal Departments’ goals.

Qualifications :
- At least four (4) years of combined experience as a paralegal, legal secretary or administrative assistant.
- Experience working in an in-house legal department for an international company/organization.
- Experience with corporate secretarial duties and corporate formalities.
- Experience with drafting and editing a wide variety of basic legal documents.
- Experience multitasking multiple projects in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
- Experience with document control and management.
- Strong knowledge of digital filing and “tickler” software and systems and experience setting up the same.
