 Job Description
 
  • The Fellow will conduct original research on climate change and its links with population and reproductive health/family planning and contribute to communicating scientific findings to policy audiences.. 
  • The Fellow will work closely with PAI research staff in defining and carrying out an ongoing, policy-relevant research agenda on the importance of population and demographic factors for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
  • The Fellow will also advise advocacy and communications staff in the climate change aspects of their work, and present PAI research to external audiences including policymakers, the media, and other organizations. The Fellowship is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension.
 Candidate Profile
 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of climate change science, data and models
  • Have a strong working knowledge of IPCC reports and processes
  • Have a strong interest in exploring linkages between the social and physical sciences, and in bridging the science-policy interface
  • Have an interest in demographic issues and trends, particularly in the developing world, and a commitment to achieving universal access to reproductive health; relevant experience and/or education preferable
  • Exhibit good communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to engage with non-scientific audiences
  • Demonstrate integrity, problem-solving ability, good judgment, flexibility, and leadership qualities
  • Possess an advanced degree, with a preference for a PhD, and at least five years of experience in climate change science research.
