Job Description

Position Summary

Action For India, an NGO, based in Bangalore, India, is looking for a Communication and Marketing Manager, who can work closely with senior management on AFI’s internal as well as external communications and create and maintain linkages with AFI network partners.


  • To implement communications strategies for all audiences
  • To oversee the development, production and distribution of all newsletters and core publications, such as the annual report
  • To lead relevant internal stakeholder communications, including with Network Partners
  • To write and disseminate media releases, articles, editorials, etc
  • To support the development and implementation of a global communications strategy
  • To provide expertise and resources to internal and external stakeholders (Network Partners, other strategic stakeholders, and AFI team members)
  • Engage proactively with partners, constituents, and members, to ascertain needs, share information, knowledge and tools to enhance their own communication abilities and effectiveness

Required skills and experience

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 3 years of relevant experience in social enterprises, non-profit with a passion for working with an organization that helps improve social conditions in India.
This position will require a creative and dynamic personality that can work in a fast-changing environment. You must have:

  • A Master’s degree in Marketing, Social media and communications, Journalism, Creative writing, Social work, Political science or a related field
  • Experience in developing content for website, social media, newsletters and marketing collateral preferred
  • The candidate must grasp concepts quickly in daily phone briefing calls with AFI’s President, but also work independently on less time sensitive priorities
  • Knowledge of communications and digital media, and marketing and branding
  • Should have excellent professional writing skills and provide draft communications with the appropriate content and tone, often within 24 hrs
  • Excellent  command of written and spoken English, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
