Job Title: GRANT MANAGER

Reports to: REGIONAL DIRECTOR (BASED IN HONG KONG)

Location: NEW DELHI

Our client works in the areas of education, society, faith and care, as well as in the fields of economic development and climate change, wherein they aim to contribute to systemic social change by combining our global expertise with our grassroots networks all over the world. Over the last 20 years they have advised approximately 10,000 project partners, who reached millions of individuals in more than 90 countries around the globe. They currently operate twelve offices in five continents. In 2016, they supported more than 3500 projects in more than 90 countries around the world. Currently, they are working with some 2300 professional partners. Their work in India is currently focussed on strengthening the existing education system, with an emphasis on the holistic development of children. They support the work of a range of NGOs and development partners, including secular and faith-based organisations.

Reason for hire:

The Grant Manager is responsible for assessing suitability of grant applications in alignment with programme development within the portfolio structure. The Grant Manager contributes to the development of projects and programmes that aim for systemic change.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Understands organization’s direction to achieve impact in the regional programmes and projects and portfolio areas.
  • Focuses on strategy and programme development.
  • Develops regional programme concept notes and proposals and contributes to development of concept notes within portfolio areas.
  • Builds collaborative partnerships.
  • Manages network of implementing partners and grantees, initiates screening of potential grantees and provides strategic advice to programme implementation partners.
  • Engages with new partners of various profiles and develops trust based relationships.
  • Creates opportunities for exchange and facilitates cooperation between stakeholders across geographies and programmes.
  • Conducts and reviews progress reports and impact evaluations and monitors use of grant funds.
  • Evaluates programme and project impact, shares result internally and externally and applies learning for course-correction and future programmes.
  • Acts in the best interest of the organisation at all times and positions.
  • Develops internal cooperation and is, if applicable, active member of the portfolio community

Must Have’s:

  • Master’s degree in education, development economics, social sciences, or related field is desirable, but equivalent work experience would be accepted in lieu of this.
  • Minimum of 6 years working experience in field of philanthropy, impact investment development, (human dignity, social justice, sustainability) and/or in region.
  • Significant relevant work experience with strong networks and contacts
  • Solid experience in Grant Making and Grant Making processes
  • Understanding of programme development, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, particularly aimed at systemic change or incorporating root cause thinking
  • Experience in managing small team
  • Fluency in English language (C1) and at least one other Indian language.

Preferable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Indian context, particularly the education sector
  • In-depth experience in inter-cultural communication and settings
  • Experience in a (family) advisory role is desirable
