The Logistics Assistant will provide operational, administrative, and analytical support for transport and dispatch operations from Douala along the Cameroon and CAR corridors. Under the supervision of the G6 Logistics Officer, the Assistant will contribute to the planning, coordination, and monitoring of cargo movement, ensuring alignment with WFP’s operational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor cargo movements (food and non-food items) from Douala port to intermediate or final delivery points in Cameroon and CAR.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of transport schedules with contracted transporters.
  • Verify transport documentation (waybills, CMRs, delivery receipts) and ensure completeness and compliance.
  • Enter, compile, and analyze logistics data (dispatched quantities, losses, returns, transit delays).
  • Prepare weekly and monthly logistics performance reports using tools like Excel pivot tables.
  • Support dispatch activities, reconditioning of damaged cargo, and warehouse control processes.
  • Track handling, storage, and transport costs in accordance with WFP procedures. • Coordinate with Cooperating Partners (CPs) to facilitate last-mile delivery and proof of receipt.
  • Maintain a comprehensive filing system of all logistics and dispatch documents.
  • Assist with pest control operations and fumigation activities in the warehouse, ensuring health and safety measures.
  • Strictly adhere to WFP safety, health, and security standards during all logistics operations.

Education : 

 University degree or diploma (minimum BAC+2 or equivalent) in logistics, transport, supply chain management, or a related field.

Work Experience:

At least 3 years of relevant work experience in logistics, dispatch, transport, or warehouse operations, preferably with humanitarian agencies, NGOs, or logistics companies.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, especially in pivot tables and basic data analysis.
  • Solid understanding of cargo handling, storage methods (FIFO, FEFO, LIFO), and Incoterms (e.g., FCA, DAP).
  • Familiarity with warehouse management, pest control protocols, and fumigation procedures.
