Job Description

Tata Trusts PATH’s Impact Lab is a new initiative between PATH & Tata Trusts with the objective of strengthening of the ecosystem for medical technologies including devices & diagnosis and with the aim of accelerating development, adoption and scaling of innovative products to positively impact public health outcomes. The Impact Lab will also consist of a state of the art ‘product shop’ located in IIT Delhi campus which will allow innovators to develop & test products. The lab will leverage IITD’s deep technical expertise to propel innovations forward.

To build and operationalize the Product Shop, it is intended to hire a Manager Product Engineering & Innovation and the position will be reporting to Director Impact Lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, design, build and operate the product shop at IIT Delhi including procurement of necessary equipment.
  • Helps advance progress towards key milestones and deliverables of assigned projects.
  • Implements and maintains project information for project managers/directors.
  • Engage and understand the needs of medtech startups & SMEs in their product development efforts and help supervise product development in the shop.
  • Engage with manufacturing firms and engineering vendors to support product development.
  • Carry out desk based research on product development.
  • Map engineering & design vendor networks across India and globally.
  • Engage with relevant centres within IIT Delhi.
  • Explore possible partnerships with other organizations for product development in public health.
  • Supervise & manage a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Help design and deliver workshops & events in relevant themes.

Required Experience

  • Masters in engineering (MTech, MSc, MDes etc) from a reputed institute/university with minimum 3 years relevant experience especially with knowledge of product engineering, re-engineering, product design & testing
  • Proficiency in MS Office especially Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated success with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
  • Self starter and ability to work in team environment with minimal supervision
  • Understanding of entrepreneurial landscape in India especially in healthcare sector is desired.
  • Understanding of Indian academic institutions and other public & private donor agencies is desired.Must have legal authorization to work in India.
