Job Responsibilities:
 
The Programme Coordinator for “Saving Newborn Lives in Uttar Pradesh through Improved Management of Birth Asphyxia” will work with the Principal Investigator / Project Manager, to coordinate the Training Programmes under the Project, to monitor Project progress, engage with Key Stakeholders at the District Level, and submit necessary reports as per Project formats.
 
He/She will support baseline and final assessments, including skills mapping of health providers in Lucknow and readiness assessments of targeted health centers; support training tools preparation; and coordinate resuscitation skills development of health providers Lucknow, and monitoring of results in the project areas.  Specific activities which the Programme Coordinator will oversee include the following:
  • Coordinate the training of the SBAs in neonatal resuscitation in Lucknow.
  • Coordinate the setting up of Skill Labs, and ensure implementation of standard practice drills and peer learning techniques,
  • Coordinate the implementation of perinatal death audits as a sustained practice to identify “missed opportunities” to improve quality of perinatal care, including neonatal resuscitation.
  • Engage with Key Stakeholders at the District Level on the issues of neonatal care, and
  • Submit regular reports to the Principal Investigator.
  • The Programme Coordinator will be based in Lucknow during the duration of the project. 
Person Specification
  • Post graduate degree in Social Sciences.  A degree in Health Sciences will be an added advantage.
  • 7-9 years of experience working on health issues (preferably maternal and child health) and nutrition.
  • At least 3 years of experience in programme management and implementation of health programmes in the NGO sector.
  • A good understanding of the government policies/laws/ programmes relating to health nutrition
  • Experience of working in a donor NGO – implementation NGO partnership environment
  • Experience of budgeting and cash flow management 
  • Excellent skills in writing/documentation
  • Excellent planning, facilitation, presentation and monitoring skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (spoken and written)
  • Proven technical skills
Professional/personal Competencies
  • Ability to work long hours, under pressure, with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to abide by SC, India  Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies
