Background

The USAID-funded Green Invest Asia Activity aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by catalyzing private finance to upscale and drive investment in the agriculture, forestry, and other land use sector toward low-emission yet profitable business models. The Activity will support countries in Asia to scale-up low-emission land management best practices through the development of a pipeline of investible projects and businesses in the sustainable landscapes sector, increased private sector investments into sustainable, low-emissions land management businesses, and improved capacity of sustainable landscapes stakeholders.

Objectives

The consultant will work with out of the Pact/Thailand office.  He/she will support the Chief of Party for USAID Green Invest as part of project start-up. He/she will report to the CoP and collaborate regularly with other senior staff members and project units. He/she will interact with USAID Green Invest Asia staff, project partners, and USAID as means to further program objectives and deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic planning and program management support to the Chief of Party during the startup of USAID Green Invest Asia to include, but not be limited to: Year 1 Workplan development, M&E plan and indicator development, subcontractor roles and activities, staffing, and management and operations
  • Assist with communication and follow up with program partners and USAID Green Invest Asia staff
  • Attend meetings with USAID and other partners as requested
  • Travel to project sites to provide support as needed
  • Other related tasks

Deliverables

  • Work with USAID Green Invest Asia staff technical staff members to develop individual workplans and activities as appropriate and in coordination with the COP
  • Assist with writing and editing of donor programmatic reporting, including the Year 1 Workplan revisions, FY18 Quarter 1 report, and other donor communications
  • Lead the production of assigned deliverables and track reporting dates

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in natural resource management, economics, international development or similarly related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of program management experience for donor-funded program, preferably experience with regional programs
  • Relevant work experience in one or more of the following countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, or Vietnam
  • Knowledge and understanding of impacts of climate change on SE Asia regional development, preferably in the AFOLU sector
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic planning, team building, and client interface
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English
