Thinking of a Career in Emergency Management?
- BY Nicole Pelette
I wish to introduce myself - My name is Nishi Singh a motivated and talented textile designer who also happens to be the granddaughter of a master craftsman in wood carving from Punjab.
I have been associated with sustainable livelihoods programmes especially with women's groups thus leading to ‘women empowerment’ and ‘revival of crafts’, through my role as design consultant for
various non-profit organizations. I have experience of more than 35 design projects, with various NGO’s,
government and international agencies, export houses, and design studios (apparel, home fashions, accessories).
I am involved in the field of ‘Indian textile crafts’, from all over the country. I am inspired by India’s varied folk palette and India’s rich heritage. My specialization is surface designs and techniques that employ traditional Indian crafts skills. I aspire to help set a professional standard for Indian crafts, tracking trends and using forecasts so that it is recognized and accepted both in India and internationally.
