A demand led competitive fund open to UK based diaspora-led
organisations creating sustainable changes to the poorest communities in
Africa.

Overview

CGI aims to increase funding to both small and diaspora organisations to create real and sustainable change for some of the poorest and most disadvantaged communities in Africa. CGI also aims to strengthen the capacity of small and diaspora organisations in the UK.

Funding is available to UK-registered charities. Small organisations must have had an annual turn-over of less than £1 million for the previous 2 financial years.

Background information

The Common Ground Initiative (CGI) is co-funded by DFID and managed by Comic Relief.
CGI is now in its second
phase. In 2014 an additional £12 million was invested in the fund by
DFID for a further 5 years (2014 to 2019).
