Eurochild and Terre des hommes (Tdh) launched Daphne-CHILD sub-granting and capacity building programme to help grassroot civil society organisations (CSOs) address violence against children.
Daphne-CHILD is financed by the European Union under the ‘Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV)’ programme.
Objective
The objective of this call is to provide financial support to grassroots CSOs working with child protection professionals or working directly with the most deprived children in the target countries to deliver participatory projects or activities on the prevention and protection of children from different forms of violence, as well as raising awareness activities on violence against children.
This sub-granting scheme is expected to improve the development of child-rights based responses and services, integrating children’s views and opinions, to address violence against children.
Aims
The programme vision aims to:
Address violence against children and young people, with children and young people, in 9 European countries across, by funding interventions that can improve children’s lives;
Develop capacities of local CSOs working at a local level in 9 countries in the area of violence against children and young people, and create a cross-country learning network for these organisations for peer exchange and mutual learning;
Inform wider regional work at the European level (EU, Council of Europe etc.) in the area of addressing violence against children across its many forms – both direct and/or indirect, and day-to-day and/or systemic, drawing on lived experiences and practice examples supported by the programme.
Funding Information
Each applicant can submit a project proposal with a total budget between 10,000 and 30,000 EUR.
Duration
The projects implementation can be between 12 months and 18 months

Geographical Focus
Daphne-CHILD takes place in 9 countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, and Ukraine.
Eligible Activities
They would expect funded CSOs to work on one or more of the following activities:
Activities targeting the prevention of any forms of violence against children and the protection of those children who have been exposed to violence.
Activities that build capacities and foster participation, ownership, and knowledge of professionals and children, including in the development and/or implementation of legislation and/or frameworks or action related to violence against children, for instance through multidisciplinary groups working with children or sessions co-created with children.
Awareness raising activities on topics related to violence against children, organised together with children, including the development of child-led awareness material on violence against children. Awareness raising activities could reach out to children, professionals, general public, media and/or decision-makers.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for sub-granting must:
be registered in their country as a non-profit and be a civil society organisation;
work directly with children at a community level;
employ no more than 11 full time equivalent (FTE) people;
be strongly embedded in communities;
be directly involved in the design and implementation of the project activities;
respect EU values, as laid down in Art.2 of the Treaty on European Union and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
