Katalyst India is an award winning NGO that stands for the economic and social empowerment of women. Katalyst started in 2007 with the intent of liberating young women, through the pursuit of STEM education. The initiative prepares young women for leadership roles, thereby creating a wider talent pool and helping bridge the gender divide. Katalyst achieves this objective through a blend of unique development interventions, including our 600 hour proprietary and scientifically researched curriculum. Over their four years in the program, we also provide one-to-one mentorship, access to best in class technology, assistance with internships, and world class industry exposure and corporate interactions.
Set up with 10 young women, Katalyst now has chapters in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi and has impacted the lives of 1914 girls, with 896 currently in the program. Katalyst alumni now occupy positions of seniority in prestigious MNCs and large Indian companies, both in India and abroad, and in Civil and Administrative Services and are also pursuing post-graduation.
Katalyst is a 4 year program focused on engineering undergrads from 4 cities, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi. Below are the various interfaces in the program lifecycle.

Our current MIS tool was designed 7 years ago, based on the way the program was conducted at that point of time. This assumed that the interventions were going to be planned, conducted and tracked, in person and at a Centre level.
Although we moved towards automation and have been able to automate certain processes, there are still interventions/functional units which are manual driven and has dependencies on the team to manually input the data points. In addition to that, we have different tools which we adopted over the last 2-3 years to manage different processes (for example: Enrolments - Java Based, Dashboards - Google Sheets and Reporting - Joget Based etc)
Requirement:
Pandemic opened our eyes to a virtual world and the possibility of breaking geography and Centre barriers and moving to a fully digital format. Breaking these barriers will also help us scale to a wider audience in more cities and more categories of students. While we focus on scholarships students, we are also offering the program to students on partial scholarship as well, based on their financial capacity. This will make the program scalable and sustainable while continuing to move towards the vision of providing equity in opportunity and leadership for all women.
Additionally, the program curriculum has been defined for Engineering college students. In a few years, we may want to extend our program and curriculum to students from other domains as well.
With a view to enabling our journey into a completely digital world, we will assess all our existing processes and tasks and evaluate which need to be modified or completely done away with. Streamlining and converting our balance processes in a technology driven format will help us create a replicable model to scale to newer geographies and non-linear growth.
