The Centers for Disease Control-PHIC intent to fund the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant applications in Federal Fiscal Year 2024.
The Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant Program allows recipients to address their own unique public health needs and challenges with innovative and community-driven methods.
Purposes
As part of the overall effort to reduce the burden of disease and associated risk factors, and to build and improve associated public health infrastructure, the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant provides resources to support prioritized public health objectives. The grant is used to fill funding gaps in programs that deal with leading causes of death and disabilities and provides the ability to respond rapidly to emerging health issues while supporting agency-wide priorities that are also important to state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments.
Goals
This program enables recipients to implement innovative and community-driven methods that meet their priority public health needs. Recipients set their own goals and program objectives and implement local strategies to address Healthy People 2030 priorities. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Eligibility Criteria
This program provides all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 2 American Indian Tribes, 5 U.S. Territories, and 3 Freely Associated States as identified in the authorizing statute with funding to address their own unique public health needs and challenges with innovative and locally defined methods.
