The Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts announces an open call for applications for the VM Salgaocar Emerging Artist Grant Program.

The VM Salgoocar Emerging Artist Grant is aimed at providing funding to young artists based in Goa. The grant provides recipients with exceptional skill with support that contributes to the advancement of research, practice and production.

Funding Information

  • Candidates will be selected by a special jury.
  • The selected grantee will be provided with support amounting to INR 1 Lakh.

Duration: The grant period will be for one year and guided by a mentor.

  • The grant will be interwoven with a dedicated professional development course that includes participation in their in-house mentorship programme, one-on-one consultations, facilitating network building, along with the eligibility to participate in a residency and an exhibition platform.
  • The grantee will be facilitated by a mentor who will monitor the research and body of work produced over the one-year grant period. Upon completion, the artist will be required to submit a project report along with appropriate documentation, and engage in public discussions and presentations about their work and processes.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This opportunity is open to creative professionals working with the following mediums: painting, sculpture, photography, video, sound, text, drawing, performance, socially-engaged & participatory practice
  • Applicants must be between 25 to 35 years of age
  • Applicants must be based in Goa and of Indian origin

Criteria

  • Contribute to their pedagogical programme through workshops, screenings, discussions and performances
  • Participation in their in-house SAIL mentorship programme
  • Publicity of ongoing research through the grant period (lectures at universities and the Centre)
  • Residency at Sunaparanta
  • Exhibition platform at the end of the grant period
