Position Summary:

The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT is seeking to recruit an Accounts Analyst. Accounts Analyst will be part of the accounting team and will have the responsibility of providing timely and efficient accounting support to the Alliance of Bioversity International & CIAT offices in Africa. The Accounts Analyst will report to Senior Coordinator.


  • Checking for accuracy, preparing, and posting cost recovery journals including vehicle mileage, and lease costs et cetera  
  • Posting of financial transactions using Agresso ERP.      
  • Travel review (preparation of JVs, PVs, credit card reconciliation)
  • Analysis of receivable and payable accounts.     
  • Supporting specific sub-regional offices ensuring proper posting of transactions.
  • Maintain a digital document management and archiving integrated system.
  • Support in both external and internal audit.
  • Provide support in consolidating staff travel liquidation documents.
  • Maintenance of the payment control master file


  • Degree in a relevant field with proven finance and accounting skills
  • Should have attained full CPA part II qualification or equivalent
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organization.
  • Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS’s
  • High level of computer skills, ability to handle complex financial and accounting systems including knowledge of financial ERP systems and ability to learn new applications quickly.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills, good judgment, and a high level of respect for confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity.
  • Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure.
  • Good communication skills with a positive attitude and a strong service orientation
