The Information Management (IM) Assistant will support data and information for decision making and reporting in emergency operations and programmes led by the Central America Country Cluster Delegation.
The Information Management (IM) Assistant will support with data and information products for disaster response. This function provides relevant information for decision making, with a strong data visualisation component for the development of maps, infographics and dashboards to support the Central America CCD team, emergency operations, programmes and Cluster National Societies.
The IM Assistant will provide ongoing IM support to the Central America CCD, contributing to the development of IM products to support new and ongoing operations, including support to the monitoring and reporting of emergency operations and IM deployments remotely and in the field.
Main purpose:
IM support to emergency monitoring and long-term programmes. Support secondary data review and data collection activities and monitoring of emergency programmes and operations. Supporting the design and implementation of efficient procedures and systems to effectively monitor operations and programmes, working closely with the CA CCD team and National Societies to ensure that timely information is available.
IM support for emergency response. The IM Assistant will work closely with the CA CCD team to ensure an adequate information workflow so that all data relevant to an emergency is integrated into the disaster report and develop intervention maps, infographics, dashboards, among others. As required by the Disaster Manager, PMER Officer and technical sectors for decision making, including DREF/EA requests, press releases, partners/donors/management meetings.
Capacity Building and technical support. The IM Assistant will provide support to National Societies on all IM related activities including conducting briefings on IM and workshops on data collection, analysis and visualization. Will provide adequate guidelines on technical data standards and tools to be implemented at regional level.
Work and coordinate with IM focal points in the IFRC Americas region to ensure adequate support for the development of IM projects across the region.

Bachelor’s degree relevant to the position

Masters degree relevant to the position
Experience Required:
1+ year(s) experience with graphic design and data visualisation with the ability to translate complex digital information into clear and attractive graphic representations
1+ year(s) experience with GIS tools and ability to produce basic maps in order to visualise geographic information
Strong background in data and information management and informatics
Strong computer literacy skills with advanced skills in MS Excel
Strong background in developing xls forms and mobile data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, other similar)
Preferred:
Experience within the humanitarian field, preferred on disaster response and project management
1 (+) years of experience within the RCRCM

Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential, with the ability to craft an analytical narrative from data findings
Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy in order to manage relationships with many stakeholders and in a complex situational environment
Analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to synthesize, order, process and prioritize large amounts of information
Strong attention to detail in both listening and visualisation design
Preferred:
Ability to take initiative to create new processes from scratch and act to fill identified gaps
Skills in database management, managing complex datasets and data visualization
Good domain of information technology is an advantage
