The main role of the incumbent is to assist in planning, organizing and coordinating the administration of sessions of the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources (IGC) and related meetings and activities.  The incumbent also assists in planning, organizing and coordinating the administration of a Diplomatic Conference to conclude an International Legal Instrument Relating to Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Traditional Knowledge Associated with Genetic Resources and related meetings and activities.

Reporting Lines:

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Director of the Traditional Knowledge Division and/or his delegate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

  • Assist in managing effectively and efficiently the IGC Secretariat’s logistical and technical support provided to the IGC sessions and related meetings, including conceptualization, initiation, execution and finalization of the IGC sessions and related meetings.
  • Prepare working, information and informal documents for the IGC sessions and related meetings.
  • Provide logistical, administrative and substantive support to other IGC-related activities, as appropriate.
  • Assist in managing effectively and efficiently the logistical and technical support provided to the Diplomatic Conference and related meetings.
  • Prepare working, information and informal documents for the Diplomatic Conference and related meetings.
  • Provide logistical, administrative and substantive support to other Diplomatic Conference-related activities, as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

Education Essential:

  • First-level university degree in business administration, law, international relations, communications, development studies or a related field.

Education Desirable:

  • Project management certification.

Experience :

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience preferably related to project management.
  • Experience in organizing and managing intergovernmental processes.
  • Experience with results-based management.

Language  Essential:

  • Excellent written and spoken knowledge of English.

Language Desirable:

  • Knowledge of other United Nations languages.
