Nepal's expenditure information on basic social services (BSS) is very much fragmented. Â Large parts of BSS spending of non-social sector line agencies are under-reported. This requires coordination of inter-sector ministries through which information on actual BSS spending by non-social sector agencies can also be obtained.

How can you make a difference?

The intern will look-into the past six years Nepal's Federal budget from the F/Y 2014/2015 to 2019/2020 and Provincial level budget for the F/Y 2018/2019 - 2019/2020 and Palikas budget where applicable and produce comprehensive MS. Excel Tables that will be used for further analysis to determine sector wide funding status.

Duration: The total duration of the internship will be for twenty weeks ( 5 months) starting from 01 August 2019 until 31 December 2019.


  • Submission of Excel tables with data for reviewed six years Nepal's National budget from 2014/2015 to 2019/2020 - By 31st August 2019
  • Submission of Excel tables with data reviewed for two years Provincial selected Palika level budget from 2018/2019 o 2019/2020- By September 2019
  • Submission of report on support provided to Child Protection Section to generate required budget tables - By October 2019
  • Submission of report on support provided to Education section to generate required budget tables - By November 2019
  • Submission of report on support provided to Health and Nutrition Section to generate required budget tables - By December 2019

Modality and Working Condition:

The intern will be office based under SPEE section of UNICEF Nepal Country Office and stipend will be paid on monthly basis upon completion of indicated deliverables and upon the receipt of an invoice.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:


  • Recent graduate preferably with economics, business, statistics or mathematics or enrolled in a degree programme.
  • Graduated within the past two years are considered recent graduates

Work Experience:

  • Relevant work experience on socio-economic analysis including data mining and analysis is an added advantage.
  • Should have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

Competencies: Fluency in English and Nepali, computer literate & familiarity with Microsoft Office software especially Excel and PowerPoint, Nepali typing is an added advantage.

Special skills: Financial Analytical skills especially in socio-economic analysis is an added advantage.
