Practice Area Management & Operations team members keep BCG’s industry and functional practice areas operating responsively and efficiently. As a member of this team, you will contribute directly to the success of our business through a number of roles, including content development, process management, marketing, meeting and conference management, and internal/external communications


We are in the early stages of a journey to build a centralized Business Intelligence & Analytics Center of Excellence that will simplify and automate our information delivery through a shared digital platform; this will greatly enhance how our leaders engage in information required to manage the business.  To date, the team has launched and operationalize several global dashboards. The next wave of digital reporting is underway which will help to unlock further value for BCG functions and leadership with best in class business intelligence and analytics.

The Product Owner role will work closely with the business, leadership teams and the BIA team—representing the “voice of the customer” by defining, maintaining, and prioritizing the list of potential innovations (product backlog) to ensure that the agile team is working on stories that maximize business value and deliver necessary functionality to targeted customers.  This role will help to lead design and implementation of the next wave of digital dashboards used by the Partners and Functional leaders globally.  This individual will work with the business to design best in class analytics and visualization to drive actionable insights and will work closely with the technical tea to execute the vision.  In additional, this person will play a key role in the change management—working with stakeholders on adoption, enablement, and on-going enhancements.


Business and analytic skills

  • Understands the business, decision-making process, workflows, and information needs of business leaders and partners; identifies patterns and can distill insights from information to support decision making
  • Works collaboratively with the local leadership teams, regional and local Finance Teams, Practice Areas and IT to translates business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, identifies ways to visualize and present information to support executive decisions and workflows
  • Looks for opportunities to enhance or expand relationships with business; acts as a go-to-person for end users to interpret and use information
  • Takes initiative and executes independently; effectively prioritizes business problems based on urgency and relevancy
  • Interacts with Information Architects to understand how data is stored, modeled, and tagged—and can help navigate and guide technical design choices

  • Strong preference for internal candidate with experience working in a local or regional finance role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting, Information Systems, or Economics
  • 7+ years of finance or business analytic experience; less experience considered for exceptional performers
  • Sound analytical and reporting skills combined with excellent communication skills; written and oral
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a global environment with people at all levels, preferably in a professional services organization
  • Experience with and exposure to data analytics and business intelligence tools e.g. SAP Business objects, Power BI, Tableau; writing queries (SQL a plus), building reports, database exposure, and diagnosing issues
