Job Description

Chemonics seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID Indonesia Tuberculosis Private Sector Activity (TBPS) based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The purpose of the TBPS Activity is to contribute to national goals to reduce tuberculosis (TB) prevalence and incidence by increasing the number of private provider clients who receive quality TB services. The activity seeks to increase private sector access to TB diagnosis and facilitate TB patient notification; increase TB treatment success rate in the private sector; and increase uptake of improved private provider engagement mechanisms in non-project districts. The COP will be responsible for overall TBPS management, quality and timeliness of deliverables, programmatic impact, external representation, and coordination with USAID. Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides overall strategic vision, leadership, and management for the TBPS approach, including the development of systems-based solutions and monitoring, evaluating and facilitating the spread of successful solutions to achieve improved TBPS outcomes
  • Serves as primary liaison to USAID, relevant Government of Indonesia ministries and agencies, international/local institutions, private sector, and other relevant USAID funded activities, ensuring all activities are coordinated effectively
  • Supervises senior management team, technical and administrative staff, subcontracting organizations, and consultants in multiple offices throughout Indonesia
  • Ensures as project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
  • Oversees project work planning, performance management, strategic communications, and compliance with contractual obligations and results
  • Identifies issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner and makes appropriate program adjustments
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required


  • A bachelors degree or higher in public health, medicine, international development, required; a related advanced degree preferred
  • At least 10 years of professional experience managing complex health projects in developing countries, with at least eight years of experience working on tuberculosis service delivery; private sector healthcare; and/or monitoring and evaluation programs
  • Track record of progressive responsibility with demonstrated senior-level leadership (e.g. Chief of Party) on programs of similar scale, scope and complexity
  • Demonstrated experience managing partnerships with government and private sector, including resolving sensitive and complicated work issues with senior high-level country counterparts, donor representatives and senior level staff
  • Strong strategic planning, management, teamwork, and communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills required
