Job Description

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Mali Girls Leadership and Empowerment through Education (Mali GLEE) activity. This three-year, $15 million dollar program aims to empower Malian girls ages 10 to 18 to reach greater educational attainment. The Mali GLEE program will pursue three objectives: decreasing barriers to accessing quality education; improving the safety of adolescent girls in schools and in their communities; and increasing adolescent girls' knowledge and adoption of positive health behaviors. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide overall program leadership, management, and technical direction to ensure all activities, staff, and partners achieve targeted results and meet reporting requirements
  • Serve as a key liaison with USAID, host-country government stakeholders, and other relevant counterparts and implementing partners
  • Manage and supervise activity implementation, ensuring the program meets its stated goals
  • Report performance and implementation updates directly to the designated USAID counterpart
  • Develop and sustain an integrated vision among program components and actors
  • Identify challenges and risks related to implementation in a timely manner, suggesting appropriate adjustments as needed
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of the project's technical directors; monitoring, evaluation, and learning director; and communications director to ensure they are achieving work plan targets

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in education or a directly related field required; Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of senior-level experience on projects of similar size and scope (with an emphasis on education in conflict-affected areas), along with relevant management, supervisory, and technical skills
  • Minimum 10 years in a management/leadership position on large education access projects required
  • Minimum five years of experience in the education sector in Mali or West Africa preferred; USAID or other donor-funded project experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of capacity development and governmental capacity building preferred
  • Experience working on or familiarity with issues related to adolescent girls' education required
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, train, and support a large staff in culturally diverse settings
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Professional fluency in both French and English required
