International Business & Technical Consultants, Inc. (IBTCI), a U.S. based international development consulting company established in 1987, has worked in over one hundred countries and implemented over two hundred projects.  IBTCI specializes in Monitoring & Evaluation across many sectors including, but not limited to, conflict and crisis, democracy and governance, economic growth, education, environment and global health.

Overview: IBTCI is seeking a Chief of Party for the USAID- Combating Wildlife Crime in Southern Africa Activity. This is a long-term employee position that may be based in either Southern Africa or the U.S. The purpose of this contract is to 1) coordinate learning from multiple landscape-based combating wildlife crime activities awarded by USAID/ Southern Africa 2) to support strategic regional activities that are necessary to address the wildlife crime challenges but that fall outside any discreet landscape.

This position is contingen upon award.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership to the team;
  • Oversee capacity building and training;
  • Performance monitoring and evaluation to ensure all project targets are met;
  • Manage subcontracts and grants with local partners;
  • Build partnerships and identify networks/ opportunities for collaboration across the region.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • At least ten years of field experience with international development projects
  • Experience with coordination and institutional capacity building approaches

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least five years of experience as Chief of Party or seven years as Deputy Chief of Party (or a combination of the two) for a long-term international development activity, preferably with USAID;
  • Work experience in Southern Africa;
  • Experience with USAID wildlife conservation and/or biodiversity programming. Experience dealing with combatting wildlife trafficking and coordinating with law enforcement personnel is a plus.

Working Environment: Corporate office environment as well as field work.

Education: Advanced degree in development or a related development field, such as Economics, Business, Statistics, Biodiversity Conservation, International Development, Public Administration, or other discipline relted to development assistance required.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
