How can you make a difference?

The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programmes/projects within the Country Programme from development planning to delivery of results. S/he prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, programme progress monitoring, evaluating and reporting. Specifically, s/he is responsible for providing technical expertise and assistance in information/data collection, statistics and data analysis, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and preparation of reports and information and communications materials for the sector, as well as supporting capacity development on national and sub-national data collection, monitoring, evaluation and research for sectoral colleagues and key national and sub-national partners.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

Education: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: social sciences, development planning, planning, evaluation, survey implementation, advanced statistical research, or another relevant field. An advanced university degree in a relevant field will be considered as an asset.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management with a focus on research, monitoring and evaluation is required. Experience in child rights, child protection or public health-related areas will be considered as an asset.
  • Strong technical competence in monitoring and evaluation methodologies, standards and models, quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity/reliability testing of data, data analysis and interpretation, and statistical inference methods is required.
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.
