How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of Chief of Communication the intern will assist in the following tasks:

  • Liaise with UNICEF graphic designer for access to all electronic design files, and guidance on correct formatting and conversions necessary for archiving.
  • Migrate all Freehand files to illustrator and review for correct conversions as according to guidance from Graphic designers.
  • File/archive all design files systematically for easy access.
  • Upload all selected design files to a local shared point.
  • Participate in online training provided by UNICEF HQ or an accredited consultant on use of relevant software and guidelines for uploading pictures to the global WeShare platform.
  • Using UNICEF photo documentation guidelines, select pictures from professional photographers for uploading to global photo library under Zimbabwe section.
  • Add all required meta-data to each selected picture before uploading to global photo share to enable search ability.
  • Organise and uploaded pictures to global website by thematic area.
  • Organise and correctly label videos and archive.
  • Develop guidelines for archive system and share with graphic designer.
  • Any other Communication task required to ensure smooth capturing and conversion of necessary files.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Requirements for Intern: Key Competencies, Skills and Experience
  • Current eligible undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students in Graphic Design, library sciences, design for print and photography or related technical fields.
  • Knowledge in the following graphic software’s: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Macromedia freehand and QuarkXpress.
  • Experience with similar assignments an added advantage
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Outstanding interactive skills with multidisciplinary groups and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and sound knowledge of content management systems (Google analytics) an added advantage.
  • Fluency in English and local language is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered as an asset.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office
  • Have no other relatives in the line of authority which the intern will report to.
  • Previous work experience in documentation, archiving, branding, an added advantage.
