Under the supervision of the Communication Manager (Markets influencing), the Markets and Supplier Financing Centre (MSFC) and UNICEF Supply Division is looking to increase and improve its information management capacity and sharing on multiple levels with the goal of increasing Market / Information communication, visibility, and advocacy. The position will help draft, compile, and streamline product information sharing through market status updates, develop communication product tools and visualizations, and draw on the latest advice and guidance from technical experts. MSFC seeks to develop easily digestible in-depth overviews of critical current market positioning, challenges, and issues. It seeks to summarise recent developments and consequent reactions or options. This position will also support centres in completing relevant product and market reporting requirements as needed and that are critical to advancing their work. The individual completing this task would be expected to be intuitive, build strong internal relationships and collaborative and timely action, as well as to have excellent writing skills. Having knowledge and some familiarity with some of UNICEF major areas of concerns and programmatic contexts surrounding UNICEF body of work and sectors would be an advantage, notably in health and health product markets, where UNICEF is heavily and actively engaged. MSFC is also increasingly expected to support and engage in market research, data, analysis, and improve data and information visualizations.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Under the supervision of the Communication Manager (MSFC), the incumbent will be expected to help ensure, oversee, and improve the information accuracy and transparency of all the UNICEF Market Influencing products and tools. This will include to:

  • • Oversee, guide and help lead the production of Market / Information with procurement centres and external partners focusing on essential market trends in supply, demand, and innovation.
  • • Put Market / Information into a forward-looking global market context, ensuring relevant messaging, issues, and challenges.
  • • Initiate and lead Market / Information development guiding on structure, content, flow, format, visuals, programmatic information, sourcing subject matter background data and information relevant to a global market context.
  • • Ensure writing quality assurance and due diligence by proofreading and reviewing documents focusing on language, coherence, consistency, information and data accuracy, referencing and accreditation, as well as compliance with UNICEF publication guidelines.
  • • Oversee and back stop drafting progresses and track timelines, consultations, review steps, and compliance with any senior management guidance and instructions to ensure "sign off".
  • • Assist UNICEF improve its Market / Information efficiency and effectiveness, processes, as well as to ensure it remains modern, relevant, we apply best practice.
  • • Follow through Market / Information publication and dissemination to all external and internal readers via all communication platforms and social media.
  • • Assist and help facilitate the updates to the Market Dashboard, keeping it relevant and fit for purpose, incorporating all changes to improve accuracy, consistency, utility, functionality, and relevance, transitioning it to Power Bi.
  • • Maintain and upkeep UNICEF’s Price Database and price publications and ensure any pricing data is to date, accurate, and coherent.
  • • Assist and support UNICEF and component leads draft health emergency disease supply notes, issuing guidance, focusing on structure, flow, format, visuals, programmatic and disease background data and information and any programme or procedure reference guidelines.
  • • To the extent possible where there is demand for materials in other UN languages, predominately French and English, facilitate quality translation services either through insourcing or outsourcing.

Education:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) preferably in Public Health, Business / Marketing, Finance, Communication, Journalism, or Political Science.
  • A first University degree with additional two years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree if candidate can demonstrate high level of experience working in the public health, development and a strong history of engagement with stakeholders

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ professional work experience, preferably in the following areas in the private or public sectors: public health, communication for development, market research and data analysis, procurement, reporting.
  • Experience in engaging with the UN system or global development partners on health issues, especially vaccines and immunization is desirable.
  •  Experience or publishing or editing English language documents is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including knowledge of relevant software.
  • Ability to establish harmonious work-relationships with colleagues in an international and multicultural environment.

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
