Under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative and in close coordination with the Regional Communication Specialist and the direct supervision of Emergency Reporting and Outreach Specialist, the Senior Analyst - Communications & Outreach will contribute to strengthen FAO’s Communication functions in Yemen.
Technical Focus:
His/her support will ensure an effective presence in the media of the FAO as a dynamic and renewed organization that works to strengthen food security and to promote agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and the sustainable management of natural resources to the benefit of communities and rural people in need.
Developing, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships with programmes and projects personnel within FAO as well as outside the organization with other UN Agencies, donors and NGOs/implementing partners.
Understanding and meeting exceed both internal and external client needs as well as anticipating and addressing such needs through the development innovative approaches
capturing, developing and effectively sharing information and knowledge
Originating and editing written content for media and the general public to be disseminated through press or other online outlets
Supervising the production of multimedia content including short videos, documentaries and audio content
Promoting FAO’s work through the of virtual networks (social media and internet)
Tasks and responsibilities:
Design and implement, with the support of the Regional Communication Specialist, a National Communication Plan that dove tails the Regional Communication Strategy and the Regional Plan and that is in line with the Country Programming Framework (CPF), the Plan of Action for Yemen and the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) Work Plan in Yemen;
Ensure full participation in the activities and initiatives led by the United Nations Communication Group (UNCG) in Yemen;
Maintain and update the official website of the Representation with press releases generated by FAO staff and/or submitted by the
Regional Office;
Conduct of communications needs assessments for FAO Yemen Country Office (CO) (projects, country programme and corporate change initiatives);
Provide support to programme teams in reporting, drafting articles, content management, norms for publishing and design in line with donor requirements as well as FAO guidelines;
Developing social media platforms and overseeing their maintenance and updating as well as preparing content for the digital platforms to ensure consistency of materials following corporate requirements in cooperation with the RNE and OCC
Promotion and dissemination of corporate advocacy materials for flagship initiatives such as IPC and annual events including World Food Day;
Preparation/Review and dissemination of newsletter to donors, donor reports, and civic education and community awareness, where appropriate, to support projects;
Minimum Requirements:
University Degree in communications, public relations or relevant post-secondary qualification(s).
Proven experience in communications, public relations or relevant fields for a minimum of 5 years.
