Job Description

Summary of the position:

The Communications Intern will gain professional work exposure by collaborating with Communications, Marketing, Business Development, and other stakeholders.  The intern will support our global team through and enterprise marketing and communication stakeholders. This role will be critical in assisting with the strategy and direction for FHI Clinical’s social media presence.

Essential functions:

  • Assists the internal Marketing lead with internal and external communication – from idea through written product
  • Primary responsibilities are blog writing, internal newsletter development, and social media content
  • Provides proofreading as requested in a timely manner
  • May write news releases, articles and updates as requested
  • May assist Marketing with media relations and creation of published content
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Business Development and stakeholders to support internal and external marketing and communications initiatives
  • Adheres to FHI Clinical branding and design standards, as well its policies and procedures
  • May contribute to development and implementation of social media strategy with an up-to-date understanding of social media best practices across the competitive landscape, ensuring alignment with broader marketing priorities, business goals, voice, and brand. Platforms may include but are not limited to LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
  • Continuously improve social media activity by capturing and analyzing the appropriate trends, social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • All other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Evidence of strong visual and technical communication skills through work samples
  • Ability to review others’ work, both written and technology-based, providing feedback that helps make the content better
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Mastery of routine office software packages (Outlook, Excel, Word) and proficiency social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube etc.)
  • Highly effective in cross-cultural settings
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics
  • Excellent writing and speaking ability
  • Has sound interpersonal skills, is flexible and adapts to changing situations
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive concise manner with sponsors and staff in writing and verbally
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications and three (3) years of relevant experience or working toward a Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing or similar related field or Advanced degree in a communication, scientific, or health-related concentration.

Preferred Job-related Experience:

  • Prior experience and demonstrated success in working with Communications and Social Media Content
  • A writing sample will be requested

Preferences: Fluency or proficiency in any of the following languages a bonus: French, Spanish
