Job Description


The Coalition for the International Criminal Court seeks a Communications Officer for its international secretariat in The Hague. The Communications Officer works to advance the Coalition's campaign goals of facilitating the exchange of information concerning the ICC and the promotion of informed global awareness of the ICC, the Rome Statute system, and international justice more broadly, through efficient communications methods. The Communications Officer will
assist with the development and implementation of the Coalition’s communications strategy and activities, including media relations, digital communications, advocacy campaigns, and events. Thisposition is directly supervised by the Director of Programs (based in The Hague), under the overall direction of the Coalition’s Convenor (based in New York).


The responsibilities of the Communications Officer include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating Coalition publications, communiqués, and website updates;
  • Drafting, researching, and editing content, including for publications, press releases, websites, emails, blogs, etc.;
  • Assisting with media relations and strategy; including reporting on developments and organizing briefings, quotes, and interviews with media representatives.
  • Developing and implementing digital communications strategies; managing social media platforms;
  • Creating and editing videos, photos, infographics and other multimedia content;
  • Performance monitoring and analysis;
  • Following ICC-relevant developments and the work of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), its

Bureau, and its Working Groups to inform communications activities; sharing the latest news and analyses on international justice to CICC members in relation to ICC developments;

  • Liaising with NGO members and media representatives in English (and in French, language skills permitting); responding to information requests;
  • Attending, reporting on, and assisting with meetings, lectures, and events related to the Coalition’s work;
  • Assisting with preparations for, and participation in, annual meetings between Coalition

members and the ICC, and in the annual session of the Assembly of States Parties to the International Criminal Court; assist in the development of ASP background papers, daily reporting on ASP sessions, and the drafting of ASP reports;

  • Providing substantive input to funding proposals and reports;
  • Occasional translation and informal interpretation (English-French and French-English; language skills permitting)
  • Other legal, administrative, and coordinating tasks as assigned;
