Job Description


The purpose of the Communications officer is to provide support to implement WV’s communications strategy in Nepal.The position is responsible for building the reputation and influence of WVI Nepal through digital media engagement, to developing and promoting evidence-based content for resource generation and increased share of voice. The role is also responsible to improve staff engagement through internal communications that mobilise staff for strategy execution and impact.


Public Engagement

  • Execute digital media plan to boost brand awareness, share impact and engage the public via social media and website
  • Contribute to campaigns and public efforts which seek to highlight, raise awareness and influence change on issues related to child wellbeing in Nepal
  • Ensure WV branding, messaging, and style in all communications materials

Content and Creative

  • Gather and prepare engaging content (photos, videos and stories) from field visits as per support office/ donor/national office requirements following WVIN standards and guidelines
  • Design and generate factsheets, newsletter and other in-house publications as per plan
  • Organise and host support office/donor marketing teams’ visits to the field
  • Contribute in emergency communications during disasters as and when required

Corporate Communications

  • Generate publications and products that enable staff and key internal stakeholders to understand and respond to organisational priorities and initiatives
  • Support capacity building of non-communications staff in writing, photography and videography
  • Support in the execution of all internal communications plan

EDUACTION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications/ Journalism or equivalent with at least 2 -3 years professional experience in communications, Public Relation or media


  • Knowledge of advocacy, development and relief work
  • Understanding of children’s issues in Nepal
  • Understanding of digital media
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Nepali
  • Demonstrated skills in writing, photography and videography
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, plan and meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel within the country, work independently and as an active team player
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural and communication skills


  • High level of travel to field is expected to collect resources
  • This role also involves facilitation and coordination of Support Offices visits to field offices for communications resource gathering
