Therefore, Immunization Section is seeking for a highly skilled professional expert who can provide high-quality copy-editing services to documentation, communication and advocacy needs of the Immunization Section, in line with UNICEF’s branding policy. A wide range of communication assets and materials on Immunization will be produced regularly to support public advocacy and awareness raising and distributed via various platforms internally and externally which will require extensive time for copy editing prior to go for graphic design and printing.

The main task of the consultant is to support in editorial guidance by copy editing, proof-reading, and polishing the documents for presentation.

Scope of Work:

In the close collaboration with Immunization staff members, in consultation with the supervisor, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct a quality check of donor reports, proposals and other documents by timely reviewing, consolidating inputs, copy-editing, and formatting of narratives to ensure the submission of high-quality products following UNICEF brand guidelines and style book.
  • Develop and/or review proposals as well as other flagship/non-flagship documents for donor communications and resource mobilization.
  • Ensure the completeness, coherence, correctness and formatting of reports and proposals, concept notes, and briefing notes. Ensure to check relevant references within the texts.
  • Edit documents for grammar, format, spell check, syntax, including conformity with original document and amendments, donor and reporting requirements. It may include rewriting for better readability and logical sequence. 

Qualifications 

Education:

  • Completion of advanced degree (Masters) in journalism, communication, political, social sciences, literature, or a related technical field.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advance university degree.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Work experience:

  • At least five years of extensive editing and writing experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multicultural environment with non-native English speakers.
  • Analytical skills with good judgement and initiative.
  • Strong logical and attention to details.
  • Experience in providing editorial review, editing, and rewriting of publications/ proposals.
  • Experience with UN/UNICEF publication is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, excellent time management and ability to work under tight deadlines

Requirements: 

  • Completed profile in UNICEF's e-Recruitment system and provide Personal History Form (P11) Upload copy of academic credentials
  • Technical proposal with methodology for deliverables and timelines
  • Financial proposal that will include:
  • Cost per deliverable or lumpsum for the whole deliverables as indicated in the terms of reference
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
  • Indicate your availability
  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
