Job Description

Purpose of the position

The Country Director is responsible for the programmes and activities of ZOA in Burundi within the framework of ZOA’s Policy- and Business Plan and agreed Country Annual Plan.

Tasks, responsibilities, results

  1. The Country Director is the legal representative of ZOA  in Burundi
  2. Overall Leadership and Management of the ZOA organisation in the Burundi
  3. Formulation and implementation of  the Country Annual Plan
  4. Programme formulation, development, implementation, and supervision
  5. Project Cycle Management, including formulation, budgeting, integration with programme planning, writing, fundraising, monitoring, and reporting
  6. Human Resource Management for all staff
  7. Maintaining relationships with all relevant actors in country
  8. Supervision and control of the administrative and financial organisation
  9. Participate in organisation wide programme and knowledge development
  10. Security planning & management responsibilities



  1. Being a Christian adhering to the Christian identity of ZOA
  2. The candidate is expected to fully support the vision and mission of ZOA


  1. University graduate
  2. At least five years of cross cultural experience
  3. At least five years of relevant management experience in an international setting
  4. Good spoken and written command of French and English

Special Conditions
