Current Hiring Practices and Trends in the Development Sector

Tearfund is looking for a Country Representative to lead the implementation of our country strategy for our programme in Myanmar. The role involves strategic planning, management of a partner portfolio, resource management, leadership and staff development, along with ensuring all aspects of in-country security, safeguarding and health and safety.
As a strong leader you will have proven experience in strategic planning and thinking, budget management, project management and evaluation in the community development sector, effective church mobilisation approaches, and managing a team. This experience will have been gained in an Asian context, preferably Myanmar.
Ideally you will also have strong proven ability in one or more of the following areas: personal transformation approaches to peacebuilding; sexual and gender based violence work using approach that starts from transforming personal gender perspectives; disaster management including resilience building, DRR disaster response and contingency planning.
You will have oral and written proficiency in Burmese and be fluent and competent in written and spoken English. You will possess good communication, interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and coaching/mentoring skills.
You will also need to be self-disciplined, with the ability to lead proactively within a remote line management relationship.
