Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The overall objective of the WHO Health Emergencies (WHE) programme is to reduce health consequences of emergencies, disasters and their economic impact and to support restoring of regular health programmes and services as soon as the emergency situation is over with minimum interruption

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Support information management for incident management system of WHO Myanmar under the WHE-Emergency Risk Management (ERM) team
  • Regularly collect reports of the Early Warning Alert and Response System (EWARS) from health cluster partner agencies and encode into the database
  • Perform data clearing and quality check of database
  • Support the State Health Directorate with regular collection of surveillance data as well as other relevant data on humanitarian and development partners activities
  • Ensure timely submission of surveillance data to State Health Directorate and central MoHS departments in Naypyitaw and WHE-ERM team in country office
  • Assist WHE-ERM Kachin team in data entry and analysis of the Health cluster and development health actors information products (e.g.3W, Humanitarian Response Plan Monitoring Report, Health cluster contact list, etc)
  • Ensure maintenance of computers and communication tools
  • Assist WHE-ERM Kachin Team in preparation for the regular health cluster coordination meeting
  • Perform any other duties assigned by WHE-ERM team in Country Office
  • Submit regular assignment reports to WHE-ERM Kachin and Country Office teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: University degree, certificate or equivalent on data or information management or related fields

Experience:

  • Essential: At least two years of work experience in database management including knowledge on the use of data or information management computer and software such as MS Access, Excel or equivalent
  • DesirableExperience in database management or disease surveillance in disasters and/or public health emergencies

Use of language skills: High level of proficiency in English is an asset
