Job Description

Description of tasks:

The UNICEF intern will be under the direct supervision of the Protection Specialist as OIC of the Education Specialist:

  • It will support all interventions related to education; above all, in the implementation of the National Plan of return to schools with the actions of prevention of the COVID pandemic in educational settings, of the Ministry of Education agreed with UNICEF
  • Ensures the implementation of activities related to the Child Friendly Schools initiative (training of teachers and school managers, conducive and healthy environment, participation of communities / families in school activities, inclusive education and gender equality);
  • Oversees the distribution and use of educational materials;
  • It will collaborate with other partners in the education sector and ensure synergy in interventions;
  • Investigate the issue of high repetition and dropout rates at the local level;
  • Investigate practices to measure the quality of learning in the primary sector;
  • Review documentation at the level of UNICEF and other development agencies in relation to education;
  • It will document the issue of inclusive education at the national level;
  • It will follow up on joint interventions planned with the private sector in the area of ​​education and others such as water, sanitation and hygiene;
  • Support other program activities related to education as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Qualifications, skills, experience:

  • Be enrolled in a degree program pursuing their last year of university career and / or graduates of up to 1 year after graduation in the areas of educational sciences, pedagogy, etc;
  • Demonstrate interest in the work of UNICEF and motivation to contribute to the objectives of the organization;
  • Have strong academic performance that can be verified from recent college or institution records or, if not available, a letter of reference from an academic supervisor;
  • Be exempt from a disciplinary record during his career, endorsed by his supervisor;
  • Not having immediate relatives (for example, father, mother, brother, sister) who work in any UNICEF office and not having other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern will report.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required; good knowledge of English and / or French is considered an advantage;
  • Previous industry experience or involvement in the task's work area is considered an asset;
  • Computer skills (ie Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others);
