Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
Education programme seeks to enable vulnerable displaced people (returnees from Iran or Pakistan, as well as people internally displaced by conflict) to access to quality education. this programme aims to ensure that displaced people able to meet their essential needs – in terms of quality, diversity and quantity – both in times of emergency and in situations of protracted displacement.
The Education Technical Assistant will be responsible for implementing, reporting and ensuring the quality of Education current project being implemented in Herat. This will include participating in data collection field work; overseeing the beneficiary selection process in coordination with communities, local stakeholders and other NRC units in the Herat office ensuring that projects are being implemented on schedule (including keeping clear records of distributions); ensuring that monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans are being implemented, and immediately flagging any challenges or delays to the Education Officer in Herat.
Duties and responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
  • Development of holistic and needs based programmes, including cash-based interventions and marked based programmes
  • Provide overall support to all activities related to Community Based Education and Jobs Skills training activities.

  • Specific Responsibilities
  • Provide support in the overall implementation of ALP, CBS and EiE as needed
  • Data collection and record of all information related to learners, teachers, attendance, exam marks etc. in ALP
  • Data entry and data base keeping
  • Organize and support ALP, EiE and CBS facilitation
  • Community mobilization and awareness
  • Preparation of administrative and logistic documents
  • Individual follow up and interviews with learners and Teachers
  • Responsible for distribution of materials, site preparation, communication and coordination with beneficiaries
  • Ensure the inclusion of cash-based interventions and marked based programmes in country and area-based strategies and their implementation across and within NRC’s core competencies
  • Provide an enabling environment for the implementation of cash-based interventions, including multi-purpose cash assistance, emergency cash responses
  • Assists line manager in identifying eligible beneficiaries for the program
  • Supervises and monitors ALP classes and facilitates other education initiatives in the field
  • Provision of support in establishment of CBS/ALC classes
  • Provision of support in equipping the CBS/ALC classes
  • Leading monthly parents meeting and community advisory board meetings
  • Leading coordination meeting with PED, DED and Hub-schools
  • Leading ToT and Monthly Refresher training
  • Take active part in leading new assessment and new project designing and opening in hard to reach areas


  • Certification/ Diploma in Education Commerce, Business Administration, Community Development, Marketing, Economics, or other related field
  • Minimum three years of experience working in humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Knowledge of cash-based interventions and market based programmes
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge of English
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficiency on Excel and Access
  • Strong analysis skills (qualitative and qualitative)
