Under the supervision of the Regional Evaluation Specialist for Asia and the Pacific and in consultation with the Chief of the Independent Evaluation Service (IES), the Evaluation Consultant will contribute to corporate evaluations, including synthesis and rapid assessments, IES-led regional evaluations for Asia and the Pacific and support the evaluation function for the Asia and the Pacific region as follows:
Responsibilities:
Support preliminary research, documentation review and analysis processes, such as document review and evaluation portfolio analysis based on and review of relevant documents (e.g., strategic notes, prodocs, donor reports and evaluation reports etc.) and corporate data (e.g. monitoring and reporting data, financial and HR data etc.)
Support or lead elements of data collection, including desk review, survey design and implementation, key informant interviews and focus group discussions, and the implementation of other data collection tools. Undertake quantitative and qualitative data analysis for case studies and create data visualizations, tables, and graphs for key documents and analysis as needed.
During the evaluation reporting phase, support the development and presentation of the preliminary finding and drafting of the synthesis evaluation report and annexes.
Support the development of the communication package for the evaluation, such as evaluation brief and Transform magazine and support the dissemination of the evaluation.

Provide support to management and quality assurance of evaluation processes in the Asia and the Pacific region, building capacity within the region for high quality gender responsive evaluation.
Support the Regional Office Community of Practice on Results Based Management to facilitate use of evaluation learnings in UN Women efforts in the region.
Support the tracking of Key Performance Indicators for the Asia and the Pacific region.
Education:
Advanced university degree in evaluation, international development, social sciences, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience:
A minimum of 2 years professional experience in qualitative/quantitative data collection and analysis, programme or corporate evaluation required.
Understanding of the UN system or experience working with an international organization an asset.
Demonstrated experience in the areas of gender equality and women’s empowerment, gender mainstreaming, gender analysis, and gender-responsive evaluation an asset.
Experience supporting or leading evaluation syntheses an asset.
Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Nvivo, Tableau) an asset
Languages:
Language proficiency in English required.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language (e.g. French, Spanish) is desirable.
