In The Image seeks to provide hope, dignity, and respect to the West Michigan community through providing the best shopping experience money does not have to buy. Supported by donations from the community and the hard work and dedication of their staff and volunteers, the organization provides free resources through a multitude of programs including their Free Store, Brian’s Basic Needs Room, pop-up shops and Shoes Help Our Elementary Students (S.H.O.E.S.) program. All programs work to provide clothing and household necessities to families and individuals in need and create a lasting impact in the community. Their new building offers a safe and welcoming place for all individuals to come and receive the best service and free shopping experience.

In The Image is seeking a compassionate and experienced Executive Director who will lead all activities of the organization including strategic planning, fundraising, and program development. The Executive Director will work in close collaboration with the Board of Directors to maintain a clear purpose and direction for the organization while fulfilling the organization’s mission and vision.

General Responsibilities

As the face and head of the organization, the Executive Director will play a crucial role in advocating for the mission of In The Image through actively seeking out fundraising support, attending community events, and empowering current employees and volunteers. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, this individual will help set new initiatives while maintaining fiscal integrity to improve current programs, increase brand awareness, and better serve the community. The Executive Director will also work to develop and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders including identifying and vetting prospective board members and creating partnerships with key members of the community. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated leadership experience in a nonprofit organization and a passion for relationship building.

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of nonprofit leadership experience
  • Proven experience in fundraising and fund development for a nonprofit organization
  • Previous experience with identifying, seeking, and developing relationships with prospective donors and partner organizations
  • High level of commitment to advocating and promoting the organization in public engagements and with community members
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and achieve superior results
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Knowledge of finance-related performance standards
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector and current trends and best practices
