Job Description

Under the responsibility of the Operations and Programs and Expertise Coordination Directorate, the incumbent works in close collaboration with the other members of the organization's departments, at headquarters and in the field. The incumbent must be able to carry out assignments for short periods, which can represent up to about 25% of his or her schedule.


Project implementation

  • Pilot capacity building projects on the rights and protection of the child in countries contributing to the deployment of police and military personnel in peace operations - including Canada
  • Produce training, training of trainers and technical support materials on children and emergencies
  • Make monitoring and training visits to the field, and report on the progress of projects, issues, recommended adjustments and lessons learned
  • Validate the quality of product deliverables and their compliance with institutional standards and propose solutions in the event of deviations
  • Follow up on committees and / or working groups, prepare and lead training courses related to expertise
  • Facilitate training of trainers
  • Perform any narrative, financial and strategic reporting required
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports related to expertise within the framework of projects
  • Participate and contribute to activities related to monitoring-evaluation-learning-accountability
  • Development, organizational standards and innovation
  • Participate in the development of integration tools in connection with the expertise in the service of programmatic development and communication - advocacy of the IBCR, as well as in matters of SEA, in support of the headquarters as well as the country offices of the 'IBCR
  • Support the development of projects in terms of content and approaches related to expertise
  • Maintain a strategic watch of the literature in the area of ​​expertise and propose innovative approaches to develop expertise at the organizational level
  • Produce studies, analyzes, research or draft positions, according to management's requests
  • Technical advice
  • Ensure the transversal integration of concerns related to emergency situations in all deliverables and training materials produced by the expertise team at headquarters and in the field and ensure the quality of contextual analyzes in connection with Canadian policy.
  • Contribute to the organization of training sessions at the head office and in the field relating to children and emergency situations, as well as to the organization of events for sharing and disseminating knowledge in this area
  • Occasionally represent the Office on issues before various bodies, in particular funders or at events or activities, at the request of the program management or the general management


  • Postgraduate degree in international studies, social sciences, law, project management, international development / international relations, or a related field.
  • Five years of significant work experience, including at least three years implementing projects with major components in child protection in emergencies
  • In-depth knowledge of the UN security reform approach, the Alliance's work on child protection in emergencies, as well as Canada's feminist international cooperation policy
  • Good knowledge of the NGO community and international cooperation.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English is imperative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 suite.
