Field Coordinator Consultant

Under the supervision of the Emergency Specialist (P3) and in regular consultation with the Child Protection Specialist (P4), GBV Specialist (P4) and Country Coordinator, support the implementation of ECARO O/P emergency preparedness and response plan in the region/s of competence. Specifically, the consultant will provide technical support at field level in the region/s of competence to definition, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the emergency interventions to ensure adequate protection of unaccompanied children, refugee and migrant children and their families, women and girls.

UNICEF is looking to recruit 3 consultants, as follows:
  • A Consultant based in Trieste, to monitor and coordinate activities in Friuli Venezia Giulia region
  • A Consultant based in Catania, to monitor and coordinate activities in Sicily – including Lampedusa
  • A Consultant based in Reggio Calabria, to monitor and coordinate activities in Apulia and Calabria
Scope of the work:

The consultants will:
  • Provide technical support to assess the needs of refugees and migrants and to the implementation of UNICEF’s response through implementing partners
  • Monitor the situation and provide operational updates
  • Facilitate communication and coordination amongst local stakeholders
  • Provide evidence to support advocacy actions
  • Contribute to emergency and donor reporting and data collection and analysis
  • Provide logistical support to missions
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 
  • Master (“Laurea Specialistica”) requirement can be substituted with a Bachelor degree and additional 2 years of relevant professional work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional work experience at the national and/or international levels in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, reporting;
  • Fluent in written and oral English and Italian
  • Valid working permit in Italy, if non-EU nationality
  • Availability to travel in Italy
  • Driving licence type B for Italy
  • Experience in emergency programmes implementation will be highly considered
  • Fluency (oral, written) in French will be highly considered, knowledge of other languages will be taken into consideration
  • Previous experience in UNICEF, UN or other IO will be highly considered
