The Finance Assistant will facilitate the efficient and effective financial operation of DRC Sana’a office. He/She will ensure compliance with DRC rules and regulations as described in the Operations Handbook (OH) alongside donor policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.

She/he will seek and receive policy guidance/ instructions and support from Finance Manager on his/her responsibilities.

Geographic scope: Country (Yemen –Sana’a)                                                                           

The duty station of the Finance Assistant will be based in Sana’a with possibility to move to the field frequently and other offices for support if needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Entering all bank/cash transactions in the Expense Journal (cash book) daily basis.
  • Responsible for processing the expense reports in DDX system.
  • Ensure that the cash count is signed by the authorized person on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for issuing cheques to the payments reviewed and POs invoices for both Bank and cash transactions and preparing wire transfer requests.
  • Responsible for transferring funds to field offices as requested.
  • Ensure to availability of sufficient money in the safe cash and bank in USD and YER currencies daily basis in compliance with DRC policies.
  • Ensure completeness of payment documents in compliance with DRC and Donor policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all payments are accurately supported and duly authorized per the DRC authorization scheme before disbursement.
  • Maintaining the receipt book and ensuring that authorized receipts are issued upon receipt of monies.
  • Make sure taxes social security and any other liabilities are paid timely.
  • Ensure the fulfillment of all financial documents (copies of the cheques and pay slips) are filed.
  • Responsible for scanning all the documents stamped in compliance with DRC.
  • Responsible for archiving and organizing well-documented files (all files must be labeled accurately and visibly) and sequential filing system for all payments and uploading all the documents scanned in (OneDrive) Dynamics Upload.
  • Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in the area of concern.
  • Performing any additional tasks and work required by the supervisor.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with carrying out admin tasks
  • Good communication skills
  • Very good proficiency in Excel
  • Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word
  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills in order to meet deadlines
  • NGO experience
