The UNICEF Partnership Office in Greece, in collaboration with the Government of Greece, protects and promotes the rights of children in Greece as well as to support UNICEF’s work with children globally. To do so, the office facilitates horizontal cooperation focused on international exchange of knowledge and expertise around promising practices for children, promotes corporate social engagement and mobilizes resources (both financial and non-financial).

The main focus of the Partnership Office’s resource mobilization function is to raise funds for UNICEF from the private sector in Greece (private sector fundraising – ‘PSFR’), byacquiring new individual donors, retaining these donors, mobilizing fundraising support from individuals online and securing support from corporate and foundation partners).

How can you make a difference?

The Fundraising Associate will be responsible for supporting the management of individual giving activities, primarily face-to-face (F2F) and door-to-door (D2D) fundraising, as well as other media channels such as direct mail and telemarketing.

Under the supervision of the Fundraising Officer, and in close liaison with other members of the UNICEF team in Athens (especially Finance and Communications colleagues), the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

Assist the supervisor and team in management of individual giving activities, primarily F2F and D2D, as well as other media channels used such as direct mail and telemarketing

  • Manage Direct Marketing Fundraising Campaigns, including developing the creative materials in liaison with agencies and coordinating the production of direct mail materials
  • Assist in organizing day to day briefing and dealing with contractors, suppliers and relevant personnel within and/or outside the office to develop and implement cash and pledge acquisition activities

Ensure a high standard of efficient Donor Services to existing and potential donors

  • Ensure efficient processing of donations
  • Handle telephone and mail enquiries, and contact donors regarding non-financial queries

Ensure development of and effective use of the donor management database to allow profitable selection, segmentation, reporting and analysis.

  • Assist supervisor and team in developing and managing the donor databases for cash and pledge donors
  • Prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annually) on results progress and forecasts
  • Support with the evaluation of the fundraising activities, including generating monitoring progress reports on expenditure and budget utilization vis-à-vis the annual workplan targets

Work planning, reporting and administration

  • Contribute to the preparation of the PSFR strategy and the Office’s workplan, assist with defining objectives, strategies, contents, design, and timing of individual fundraising activities
  • Arrange meetings and draft related minutes
  • Prepare investment fund proposals and reports
  • Coordinate bidding and the creation of contracts

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A Secondary education is required. Professional and/or university courses related to marketing, business administration or another relevant field are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of six years of professional experience in supporting fundraising from individual donors. A combination of experience in supporting fundraising from individual donors, and supporting consumer sales and marketing, may also be considered.
  • Hands-on experience in database management is a strong asset
  • Campaign management is a strong asset
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (MS Word and MS Excel, in particular) and office management software (ERP etc.)
  • Good organizational and communications (oral and written) skills
  • A systematic mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Experience and ability with accounting and budget management
  • Service-minded with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
  • Excellent Greek and good English oral and written skills
