About HSI

Humane Society International and its partner organizations together constitute the world’s largest force for animal protection. We work lawfully and professionally, building relationships with government authorities and elected officials, business leaders and other decision-makers to identify and implement workable solutions to animal welfare concerns. Humane Society International/India (HSI/India) is the Indian chapter of Humane Society International. HSI has been operating in India for about 12 years. The organization was formally incorporated as an Indian NGO in 2012. The ability to raise funds and establish partnerships within India is crucial to furthering our core goals of eradicating rabies through humane street dog population management, capacity building for Indian animal welfare organizations, strengthening farm animal and wildlife protections and ending animal testing.

Location: Mumbai, India

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interface and coordinate with the HSUS fundraising team on materials, reports, etc. and relaying information and needs back to the Director and Deputy Director
  • Research and liaise with trusts, government agencies, corporates and other bodies that could potentially make grants to the organisation
  • Write proposals and applications for grants
  • Manage the grant application process and ensure that reporting is tracked and meets donors' expectations
  • Develop media and materials to and communicate with existing donors and stakeholders
  • Help in preparing annual income and expenditure fundraising budgets for approval
  • Grant reporting to funders – individuals, foundations & CSR as per the grant proposal requirements
  • Liaise with copywriter, printer etc. to produce fundraising promotional material
  • Update databases, prepare reports, monitor income and expenditure
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for a fundraising project

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years fundraising experience in NGOs
  • Commitment to HSI’s objectives and mainstream operating style and willingness to commit a minimum 2-year stint with HSI/India
  • Superior research and analytical capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
  • Willingness and comfort to interface with HNIs and top management of corporate
  • Outgoing and personable manner
  • Ability to work under pressure as part of a team or independently
  • Willingness to travel regularly within India, and occasionally internationally
