Thinking of a Career in Emergency Management?
- BY Nicole Pelette
Oxfam is a global movement of people who won’t live with the injustice of poverty. Together we save and rebuild lives in disasters. We help people build better lives for themselves. We speak out on the big issues that keep people poor, like inequality, discrimination against women and climate change. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can live without poverty.
The Gender Justice and Women’s Rights Director is an exciting senior cross divisional role that oversees Oxfam’s commitment to put women’s rights at the heart of all we do.
This role will provide strategic leadership to Oxfam’s work on gender justice and be responsible for aligning our commitment to women’s rights across all divisions in OGB. It will ensure our programmes and advocacy on women's rights inform and support our public engagement through fundraising, communications and trading.
Leading on the communication and visibility of Oxfam’s gender justice work, this role will support existing gender justice roles, architecture, and commitments. In addition it will strengthen our profile and reputation, resourcing and relationships in relation to women’s rights with external networks.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced gender expert with proven leadership at a senior, strategic level in a complex, dispersed organisation. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and influencer with proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior managers, donors, media and pivotal figures in the sector. Having an in-depth knowledge of the factors driving gender inequalities in different contexts and keeping abreast of research, trends and issues in programming and campaigning to support gender justice would be essential.
The role is based in Oxford and requires the ability to travel away from home for up to 40 days per year.
