Thinking of a Career in Emergency Management?
- BY Nicole Pelette
Inequality is one of the greatest injustices of our times. The richest 80 people in the world have as much wealth as the poorest half of the global population. Tax dodging is one of the drivers of this rising inequality, and this year Oxfam are joining forces with 23 partners for a new project that will place tax justice at the heart of the European development agenda. Digital campaigning will be central to achieving that goal and with your help, we can make a difference.
Making the most of your digital know-how, youâÂÂll develop and deliver online campaigns and digital content as part of a new European Commission Development Education and Awareness Raising (DEAR) funded project. This ambitious project, delivered in partnership with 24 partner organisations (ActionAid, Oxfam and others) in 19 countries will raise international awareness and support for combating tax dodging amongst European citizens and activists in the global South, and promote equitable tax reform in developing countries. You will be working with campaigning and policy colleagues across Europe to develop hard hitting strategies to meet the projectâÂÂs objectives. You will create and disseminate compelling digital content, lead pan-European digital projects and events, and provide campaigns support to partners around the world.
What weâÂÂre looking for
We are looking for a digital campaigner and content manger with strong social media expertise, who is committed to challenging extreme inequality and campaigning for tax justice. You will also be someone who gets things done; through your own work, and through overseeing projects to ensure they deliver. You will enjoy working with others, and be used to working in virtual teams and building strong working relationships. You will be a great coordinator, who is comfortable at working with multiple stakeholders in complex projects. You will have a sharp eye for detail, experience of web editorial or site administration, and excellent online writing and production skills. You will be an expert in using digital tools to achieve campaign objectives.
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. ThereâÂÂs enough wealth in this world to go around. ItâÂÂs not unfortunate that people live in poverty. ItâÂÂs unjustifiable. ItâÂÂs not just their problem. ItâÂÂs ours too. And with the right support, we can beat rising inequality and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now weâÂÂre looking for yours.
