Job Description

The Grants Coordinator will contribute to achieving quality programming by closely supporting the Grants Manager in ensuring effective grants management including, internal and donor compliance requirements, timely and quality reporting as well as supporting proposal development, and acting as the focal point for key mandatory activities in relation to downstream partnerships and consortia under NRC’s Project Cycle Management (PCM). S/he ensures NRC programme/support teams are informed of relevant donor compliance regulations and NRC procedures, manages donor and other external reporting, and supports the Grant Manager during grant revisions. At the request of the Grants Manager, the Coordinator also supports Project Managers and Core Competency Specialists in the development of proposals and reporting in line with internal grant procedures.

The Grants Coordinator reports to the Grants Manager

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support overview and maintenance of a grants portfolio (including filing of grants documents), donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines;
  • Support the development of donor applications and reports, as well as ensuring donor compliance and quality control;
  • Contribute to the development and revision of funding proposals, budgets, and donor reports;
  • Support the Grants Manager to continuously improve internal grant management systems;
  • Provide an internal help-desk on donor related issues, including donor rules and regulations, as well as proposal and report writing;
  • Coordinate the development and distribution of internal reports;
  • Contribute to PCM procedures and usage of the NRC PCM framework in the country office, with a particular focus on partnerships and consortia, throughout all stages of the PCM;
  • Represent NRC with relevant partners, area-level/ local donors, and coordination bodies (working groups, clusters) as delegated by the Grants Manager; Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy


  • At least 2 years’ of relevant international experience in a related field;
  • Experience of donor relations and grants management (e.g. with institutional humanitarian and development donors), particularly around partnerships;
  • Experience working in complex environments and with displaced populations;
  • Good understanding of donor rules and regulations;
  • Proven skills and experience in report and proposal development and working with multiple donors;
  • Good personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Willingness to travel to area offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements.
  • Experience with partnerships and consortia coordination;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organisational and team working skills;
  • Good cultural awareness and sensitivity;
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector;
  • Above average computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Windows Word and Excel;
