This is a highly influential position for Oxfam. You will be managing a team that will deliver high profile research in support of OxfamÃ¢ÂÂs global and national campaigns, programme delivery and external profile and credibility. You will also play a key role in building the global capacity of the whole organisation to deliver high quality, high impact research in countries where we work, including developing a vibrant community of practice, creating high profile research collaborations and securing significant research funding.
Moreover, you will shape the intellectual content of Oxfam on the challenges facing development, positioning the organization as a cutting-edge, highly respected development thinker. You will represent us externally, both as a media spokesperson and as a writer of key articles and in social media. You will develop, in partnership with other parts of the organization, the knowledge base to inform and improve OxfamÃ¢ÂÂs programming and influencing work.
What weÃ¢ÂÂre looking for
A strong conceptual thinker, and recognised researcher of development, humanitarian and poverty issues, youÃ¢ÂÂll have proven your ability to link grassroots programmes to policy development and be equally comfortable with the use of statistics and modelling. YouÃ¢ÂÂll also be an adept strategist, bringing an appreciation of the impact research has on making change happen, and with the written and verbal communications skills to influence through lobbying and media. You will be a strong advocate for the systematic use of evidence in policy making and campaigns. You will be versed in international statistics and the most current measurement debates. You will also have a clear understanding of impact evaluation and the ability to partner with the MEL teams in Oxfam.
You will have the leadership and management skills to drive complex organisational change that delivers high-impact, high quality research. For all this, you will have management experience and political nous to lead the team and contribute substantively as part of the senior management team of the Campaigns, Policy and Influencing Team.
