Job Description


NRC currently has more than 2,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria. As a leading humanitarian organization, we support displaced persons by implementing programs across the Shelter, Education, Food Security, Information Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs. In the Middle East, NRC has over 3000 staff dedicated to assisting people affected by the conflict in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine. Its humanitarian interventions are based upon its programming expertise in the Core Competencies of Shelter, Education, Water and Sanitation Hygiene, Food Security, along with Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) to forcibly displaced people. The Syrian Crisis is well into its eight-year, but the level and intensity of conflict in the country remain high. Humanitarian and protection needs continue to grow inside of Syria as a result of the ongoing conflict and consequent complex emergency situation in which displacement is both massive and widespread.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated professional individual to join our Syria Response Office’s operations. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context or equivalent. Along with a demonstrated previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts. Also, relevant expertise is required. The candidate must be fluent in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal. with advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (MS Excel, Word, and Outlook), strong organizational and teamwork skills. The candidate must be a Bachelor’s Degree holder in a relevant field.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintain computerized and manual personnel records in line with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality requirements
  • Carry out all HR functions such as filing of personnel files, contracts preparation, assists in preparation of staff payroll, timely review of attendance sheets and timesheets, process staff leave requests, keeps leave records updated on monthly basis and communicates to the main office on request.
  • Responsible for the tracking and following on daily worker's records and provide periodic reports to Line Manager. Support in the preparation of daily workers' payments and verify relevant documents. Assist in HRMS assignment implementation, recruitment, and training of NRC staff and partner staff when needed. Ensure proper follow up on maintaining updated Performance Management records for staff, and update relevant trackers
  • Follow up and keep the HR database and all trackers updated. (Timesheets tracker, leaves tracker, and all additional employees personnel trackers).
  • Reporting on potential conflicts of interest, fraud, protection concerns, and any other effects related to NRC assistance;
  • Ensure confidentiality of HR-related information and handle it with sensitivity and care.
  • Ensure proper communication channels with Field HR are present and provide continuous support to field and HR Field staff.
  • Coordinate and manage the staff and daily workers onboarding process
  • Identify areas for improvement and present ideas for change.
  • Attend all meetings assigned by the line manager and prepare reports
