The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is looking for a talented, self-motivated, and dynamic candidate to join as Human Resources Officer.

This is a human resources generalist position with a distinctive focus on recruitment of high-quality talent, for both IWMI’s regular and complimentary workforce. The post holder will support hiring managers, develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies, and employment selection, coordinate and schedule interviews, across time-zones and cultures.

General Duties And Responsibilities

Recruitment Focal Point

  • Partner with hiring managers to develop and execute recruitment plans utilizing effective and cost-effective strategies; adapt approaches and external communications as needed.
  • Review job descriptions and ensure that those fall within the job classification guidelines and feasible in the relevant job market.
  • Draft job advertisements in line with the job description and ensure that the position is advertised in appropriate media including IWMI’s careers page, social media channels, professional groups and internally to ensure that IWMI attracts the right talent.
  • Screen received applications to ensure that the applicant pools are appropriate and if not take necessary corrective actions.
  • Advise and coordinate selection panels, interviews, and assessments.
  • Liaise with applicants at all stages of the recruitment process to ensure they have a positive recruitment experience regardless of outcome of the candidacy.
  • Perform reference and background checks as required, elevating relevant issues and extending offers as directed.
  • Communicate, follow up and coordinate with applicants.
  • Suggest improvements to policy/guidelines and tools to assist hiring managers in the appointments of high caliber candidates.
  • Ensure technology and brand efforts are optimized to enhance qualified talent attraction for organization;
  • Support IWMI’s gender and diversity goals by supporting and guiding efforts to build a diverse pipeline of talent through advertising on relevant media while ensuring the use of gender-neutral language.
  • Promote IWMI as an employer of diverse employer.
  • Advise hiring managers on cost effective and effective recruitment methods.
  • Ensure recruitment and record retention practices are in line with IWMI, CGIAR, and other policy compliance in recruitment practices as well as policies.
  • Represent HR on interview panels as required and provide insight or feedback regarding the candidates.

Human Resources Generalist Support

  • Provide administrative support in the HR function.
  • Follow and communicate HR policy and procedures to relevant staff, advising staff and managers as needed.
  • Verify and process position-related payment of invoices.
  • Prepare employee transaction letters and contracts as needed.
  • Collaborate across departments and geographies, interacting with staff in regional offices as well as all departments at IWMI headquarters.
  • Monitor related laws, best practices and industry trends, integrating into IWMI practice as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional associations as well as informal peer networking.

Requirements

Minimum Educational Qualifications And Experience Required

  • A professional qualification in human resources management and/or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Two to five years of HR generalist experience in a high-volume HR environment.
  • Successful talent acquisition experience, preferably across cultures and multiple time-zones.
  • Professional-standard spoken and written English language skills.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

Essential

  • Effective, client-focused interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures and employment laws.
  • Very good computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office packages and internet search engines.
  • Strong sense of discretion, exhibiting a high level of confidentiality.
  • Detail oriented, organized and proven ability to prioritize.
  • Must be tactful, patient, diplomatic and approachable.
  • Able to handle high volumes of work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and reporting mechanisms.
  • HR-related project management experience
  • Experience in working in international organizations.
