The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.
Platforms and Service Delivery Section designs, builds and manages the IT platforms, services and tools in all strategic technology areas including the Data Center, network infrastructure, connectivity in its various modalities, cloud, IT security, collaboration and mobility. Each of these technology areas represent the delivery of capability that is constantly improving the UNICEF efficiency, transparency and effectiveness posture.
How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Architect – Core IT Services, the incumbent will assist in designing, developing, testing and documenting global IT solutions in the area of Cloud (IaaS/PaaS) and Windows Client Operating Systems (OS).
Client OS (Microsoft Windows) Solutions: Serve as focal point and source of knowledge, technique, and expertise in the IT Infrastructure domain related to Client OS computing. Develops and maintains UNICEF global standard Client OS (Microsoft Windows) images using Microsoft Development Toolkit (MDT) and ensures they adhere to the organizational security policies and standards. Provides expert support for the technical administration of the Client OS and its integration with different server back-end systems (i.e. Server OS, Networking stack, UNICEF standard applications such as Office 365, SAP, Antivirus etc.) and other areas related to end-user computing at NYHQ and UNICEF offices worldwide.
Cloud (Azure) IaaS/PaaS Architecture and Solutions: Assist in designing, developing, testing and documenting global IT solutions in the area of Cloud (IaaS/PaaS) and Windows Client Operating Systems (OS). Support the implementation of Cloud (Microsoft Azure) designs and solutions related to the IT infrastructure and platforms technology focusing in areas of Core IT Services such as Client and Server computing, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Networking, Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud deployments related to IaaS & PaaS.
3rd Level Support: Undertakes regular problem management reviews, identifying prime causes of failure and removing their underlying causes. Ensures service calls are reflected in the incident management system. Periodically reviews and acts based on activity reports generated. Ensures that appropriate action is taken to investigate and resolve complex incidents and problems as 3rd level support in systems and services.
Hardware and Software Standards: Assists in activities related to setting new organizational IT hardware and software standards by analyzing and understanding potential impact of competing technologies, assessing their strategic significance, defining their strategic role and scope, road map, relationship to existing standards. Periodically reviews the entire IT estate in the context of those standards.
