OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To ensure that effective WHO country presence is established to implement WHO country, cooperation strategies that are aligned with Member State's health and development agendas and harmonized with the United Nations country teams.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Be responsible for the collection, analyses, production and dissemination of data/information. This includes supporting the response specific information (what, where, who, how many, how quickly, current status), internal and external situation reports (SitReps), epidemic bulletins, rapid needs assessments, health risk assessments, and the Public Health Situation Analysis; and health inputs into humanitarian needs overviews (HNO), and strategic response plans (SRP).
  • Aggregate and maintain inter-country information from WHO and partners including contact lists, performance monitoring, health indicator data, health situation data, health response data
  • Participate in the basic geographic analysis for maps and other reports (such as dashboards, SitReps, etc).
  • Be responsible for the information sharing between institutions, to strengthen access to information from other organizations and clusters, and to contribute to inter-sectoral dashboards and reports
  • Participate in field epidemiological surveys if/where needed, such as mortality and vaccination coverage surveys6. Provide information management input into the planning and data/information management process; on data gathering and analysis, quality assurance, performance monitoring, information dissemination and management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in information or data management or computer sciences or statistics or applied math or public health.
  • Desirable: Specialization in information management systems. Specific training in humanitarian response or emergency information management.

Experience

  • Essential: At least two years of related experience in information management, monitoring, and data analysis. Advanced level of Geographic information system (GIS), Power BI, R programming language, and DHIS2.
  • Desirable: Relevant work experience in WHO, other UN agencies; experience working in relevant non-governmental or humanitarian organizations. Experience in developing countries

Skills

  • Sound skills in the area of information management, data analysis, and statistics
  • Demonstrated ability to design, manage and analyze complex information system projects, computer-based applications and databases, web-based tools
  • High level of analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of programme management and functioning of WHO and the UN system is an asset.

Use of Language Skills

Essential:

  • Expert knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Arabic.

Desirable:

  • The above language requirements are interchangeable.
